Harriet Tubman was born in March 10, 1820 in Maryland. She was born into slavery, and when she escaped she had thirteen missions and freed more than 70 slaves. She used the Underground Railroad which were safe houses that were used to help slaves stay at.. Her masters used to beaten her and some of her wounds were severe that caused her disabling problems. When she escaped from slavery and stayed at Philadelphia she retured back to Maryland to free her family. When she freed her family members she started freeing other slaves. She also helped the American Civil War, helped as a nurse, and cook. But eventually became an armed scout and spy. She was known as ''Moses''. She died from pneumonia after retiring and taking care of her parents in New York. On March 10, 1913 at the age of 93 she died.
